In this age of globalization and social media influence , a very so called abstract form of professions have seen a massive growth one such that interested me is the Food business.

Food business giants like Starbucks, Burger King and now after a elongated wait we are getting MC’ Donalds  in Guwahati. This brings me to highlight the opportunities it would create in the city and  in an attempt to treat your curiosity let me break this into some reasonable points.

  1. Birth of the franchise.

Mc DONALD’S was started by Richard and Maurice McDonald or more popularly “ Dick and Mac”, in the 1940’s as a small drive-in eatery in San Bernardino, California but the franchise module of the company rolled out in the mid 50’s when Ray Kroc a multimixer sales’man visited a restaurant in San Bernardino, California that had purchased several Multimixers and a small but successful restaurant caught his eyes the restaurant was named Mc Donald’s.

When he visited Mc’ Donald’s for the first time he was amazed by the effectiveness of their operation. The McDonald’s brothers produced a limited menu, concentrating on just a few items – burgers, fries and beverages – which allowed them to focus on quality and quick service.

They were looking for a new franchising agent and Kroc saw an opportunity. In 1955, he founded McDonald’s System, Inc., a predecessor of the Mc Donald’s Corporation, and six years later bought the exclusive rights to the McDonald’s name and operating system. By 1958, McDonald’s had sold its 100 millionth hamburger.

  1. What comes to Guwahati along with the Big Mac as MC’ Donald’s steps into the City?

One of the major reason for Mc Donald’s to be one of the most favorite company is because of its employment policy which attracts a lot of students or daily hustlers to earn some pocket money …… this goes same with the upcoming franchise of Mc Donald’s guwahati as we can see the “CREW HIRING”  banners of the restaurant . Can you assume the number of staff that would be required to run the franchise at its best globally appreciated effective and fast operations?

The McDonald’s USA, LLC mentions it in their franchises disclosure agreement that the franchisee doesn’t require you to purchase or lease goods, services, supplies, fixtures, equipment or computer hardware or software from Mc Donald’s , Which gives the opportunity to the franchisee to source out the above mentioned articles locally thus benefiting  the state in locally produced material as required by the restaurant.

However what might bring your concern is the raw material used in the food products offered by the franchise as Mc Donald’s have a strict policy of sourcing out suppliers for their raw material and a franchise would only be establish if it source out its raw material from the company authorized supplier.  The one question that arises here if the supplier is not a local  will the raw material that includes easily perishable articles like chicken, vegetables, cheese , sauces, buns, etc would be freshly available to cater the daily load of the restaurant.

Another  indirect perk of the new franchise would benefit the neighboring establishments and business in one of the most busiest locality of Ganeshguri as the new franchises is all set to launch at the famous B.K tower adjacent to the ganeshguri market and flyover area. Being a popular food chain we are assuming Mc Donald’s guwahati  a great number of sales per day which might cause a side affect of over congestion and thus redirecting the Hungry crowd to near by food courts and restaurants or even other food giants like Taco Bell which is located only a few hundred meters from BK tower.
