Investigation
Our team broke the video into several keyframes using the Invid tool and ran a Google reverse image search of the same. It was found that the viral video is a clip from a live stream on the official YouTube channel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The video was published on May 17, 2015, and is 29 minutes 40 seconds long.
Further, we went through the description of the video where it was found that the video is from the community reception and yoga event which was organised by ‘Art of Living’ in Mongolia during the PM’s visit in May 2015.
The caption of the video reads, “The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at the Community Reception and Yoga Event, organised by “Art of Living”, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on May 17, 2015.”
Conclusion
Headline8 found out that viral video is false and misleading. The video of Indians performing Surya Namaskar dressed in the tricolors of the National Flag is from PM Modi’s visit to Mongolia and not from the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics
