Recently an image went viral on social media in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that India has become the president of the United Nations Security Council ( UNSC) for the first time.
Headline8 in its investigation found that the claim is false.

Investigation-
Headline8 did a fact check on the viral image and here is what was revealed:
At the initial stage of the investigation, a Google reverse image check was done.
During the search, Headline8 found that the same image of PM Narendra Modi can be traced to an image uploaded by Twitter and Facebook handler.
Headline8 also found that it is not the first time India has assumed the UNSC presidency. India has been the president of the UNSC body 10 times earlier on.
Headline8 also tried to reach out to UNSC via email and is yet to receive a statement.
At the final part of the investigation, Headline8 did a check on the Twitter, Facebook and Youtube accounts of the above mentioned.
Twitter handle Shipra Dutta has 4,730 followers and has joined in March 2019.
Vishnu Adsul has about 421 friends.
Youtube profile Ghanshyam Kaushik has joined on 24 May 2021.
Conclusion-
After an intense investigation, Headline8 came to the conclusion that the viral image circulating as India for the first time taking over the UNSC presidency is fake.
This is India’s eighth tenancy as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, and it has assumed the rotating presidency of the body every time.
