Assam has seen an eightfold increase in new COVID-19 cases, with 202 more people testing positive for the virus, bringing the total to 7,43,048 people, according to a bulletin from the National Health Mission (NHM). The death toll remained at 8,026, according to the report.
The northeastern state now has 2,987 active cases, with 7,32,033 patients having recovered from the disease, according to the bulletin. On Tuesday, Assam tested 5,502 samples for COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 3.67%. It had detected 25 new infections out of 690 samples examined on Monday.
According to the NHM, a total of 4,93,17,906 vaccine doses have been administered in the state thus far.
