Mechuka – Best Nearest Destination to Visit in Summer

Mechuka or Menchukha is a beautiful valley in the town Menchukha situated 6,000 feet above sea level of Yargep Chu or Siyom River in Shri Yomi District of Arunachal Pradesh.

Men means medicine, chu means Water-streams and Kha snow. Together it means the land blessed with medicinal snow-fed Stream.

Mechukha is gradually becoming a popular tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh due to its scenic beauty, exotic tribes, gentle hills and snow-capped mountains and Siyom River.

The major tourist attraction here is a 400-year-old Buddhist Monastery, which is located at a hilltop in the westernmost part of Mechukha. Some ancient statues also will be found there.

The Monestary

Mechukha has recently been connected by a strategic road to Tato and Aalo. You can take the highway to visit there.

Route

By Air

One of the best way to visit Menchukha is by air. The closest airport to Menchukha is Lilabari Airport, Dibrugarh. There’s also a helicopter service under the UDAAN scheme twice a week to Mechuka.

By Train

The nearest station is Chilapathar Railway Station.

By Road

Road connectivity to Mechuka’s mostly via the West Siang District and Aalo, the district Head Quarter is the entry access to Mechuka, as also connected to Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh.
