DARK MODE:
WhatsApp introduced dark mode earlier this year which allows the web version to get the dark theme.
This feature is available to all users around the globe. The company claims the benefit of this mode is that it helps in reducing strain on the eyes.
VIDEOCALL 8 PEOPLE AT THE SAME TIME:
Earlier, people could video call four people over WhatsApp. But video calling has become important for people mainly in a pandemic situation. The new version aims at improving the quality of video calls and allowing users to call up to eight people at the same time.
SELF-DESTRUCTING MESSAGES:
WhatsApp has finally introduced the feature of disappearing messages. One can send messages that disappear on WhatsApp by enabling disappearing messages. After it is enabled, new messages will disappear after seven days which are sent in individual or group chats.
QR CODES:
WhatsApp rolled out a new way to add someone on your WhatsApp without asking for a phone number. This feature makes it easier for users to add new contacts easily by just scanning a QR code. It will also be helpful in sharing group invites. Users can find their customized QR code in the Settings option of the application on the top right side in front of the name and profile photo.
ANIMATED STICKERS:
Another interesting feature introduced by WhatsApp for its users globally is animated stickers. This feature will make the conversation more fascinating and exciting. Currently, there are four animated sticker packs accessible for download- Chum Chums, Rico’s Sweet Life, Bright Days and Moody Foodies.
PERMANENT MUTE OPTION:
To enable this feature click on Always mute feature to mute their personal chats and groups indefinitely.
WhatsApp has come up with a beta update for its users that has added the ability to permanently mute chats. Basically, it means that users can now put a chat on mute permanently.
WHATSAPP PAYMENTS:
Through the WhatsApp Payments feature, users can safely and easily transfer money in the same way they send messages through WhatsApp. This feature could serve as a competitor to other digital payment applications like Google Pay, Paytm and PhonePe. It does not come with features like bill payments or integration to shopping wallet or website.
PERSONALISED WALLPAPERS:
The company launched the feature of customizable wallpapers. Earlier, WhatsApp users could only set one wallpaper for all the chats but using this feature user can use different wallpapers for different chats. There is also an option to have photos as wallpaper.
ADVANCED SEARCH OPTION:
Advanced Search function introduced by the company enables users to find not only text messages but also search for photos, GIFs, videos and other documents.
NEW STORAGE MANAGEMENT TOOL:
WhatsApp has introduced an essential feature called storage management tool which automatically informs its users regarding the storage getting full on their smartphones and let them delete unnecessary data or pictures, videos to free up storage space on their phones.
