BSF shoots down Pakistani drone along international border in J&K

National Desk: The Border Security Force on Saturday morning at around 5:10 am shot down a Pakistani drone loaded with a sophisticated rifle and some grenades along the International border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, the 8×8 drone was spotted hovering in the skies by a BSF party on patrol duty at Rathua village in the vicinity of Border Out Post (BOP) Pansar. It is being said that the BSF personnel fired nine rounds and shot it down 250 metres inside the Indian territory.

According to media reports, the drone was carrying American-origin M4 rifle, two magazines, ammunition and seven grenades. The drone was also loaded with drugs besides firearms.
According to sources, it is believed that the Pakistani rangers manning the forward posts opposite BOP Pansar were controlling the drone.

Senior BSF and police officers immediately rushed to the spot and further investigation is still going on.

This is the first instance in Jammu region when a drone carrying arms and explosives was shot down by the BSF.
