Several Police Complaints Booked Against News18 Anchor Amish Devgan

National News: A police complaint has been lodged against News18 channel anchor Amish Devgan for purportedly making diminishing remarks on saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisthi. On his show which aired on June 16, 2020, Devgan made derogatory remarks on the saint who is popularly known as Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz. Devgan in his show called out the saint as Lootera Chisthi.

Reacting to the remark of Amish Devgan, Raza Academy lodged a complaint against the anchor and demanded FIR against him. In Hydrabad too, complaint has been lodged against the anchor.

The Raza Academy has demanded to file criminal case FIR under the section 295A, 15A, 34, 120B, 505(2) and disaster Management Act due to the ongoing pandemic. Across the whole country, more than 100 FIRs have been registered against the News18 anchor. Meanwhile, a petition has been started on change.org against the anchor.

The News18 anchor apologized for his remark and explained that he accidently made the remark against the Sufi Saint. Amish Devgan told that he wanted to say something else but by mistake made the remark.

The Ajmer Sharif Dargah is the shrine of the Sufi saint who is a revered figure of the community. It is situated at 2 kilometers away from the main central Ajmer Railway station in Ajmer district of Rajasthan.
