NEWS DESK: Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader showed his concern about the devastating flood situation in Assam. The spiritual leader wrote a letter to Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, and expressed grief over the lives lost in the flood.
Through his letter, the Tibetan spiritual leader announced that his trust will make a donation for the flood relief. He also appreciated the state government for taking every possible measure to rescue the flood-affected.
He stated that he is making the donation from Dalai Lama Trust as a gesture of solidarity with the people of Assam.
In his letter Dalai Lama lamented, “The monsoon rains in Assam and other parts of India bring destruction and great suffering to people year after year.”
He also added, “Unfortunately, this year the situation has been made even more troublesome by the continuing coronavirus pandemic. I am writing to you today to express my sadness at the loss of life and devastation of property, as well as the tremendous hardship caused to so many due to flooding in many parts of your state”
This year, the flood in Assam had caused havoc and devastated livelihood and property of millions of people. Thousands of people have been rendered homeless. Till now 71 people lost their lives due to floods in Assam.
