News Desk: Monojit Singha, a Human Rights Defenders from Guwahati has complained to the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi that parents are being forced by private schools to immediately pay fees during Lockdown.
A case was registered in the National Human Rights Commission vide Case No.- 118/3/24/2020. On 17/07/2020.Therefore, NHRC issue direction to the Secretary of Education Department, Government of Assam to take appropriate action on the complain regarding the wave of school fees.
The details of the incident which was submitted by Monojit Singha to NHRC, “Respected Sir, I have the honour to inform you that Private Schools are demanding monthly fees from parents during the Lockdown period in Guwahati, Assam which causes mental harassment of parents. Sir, peoples are facing a huge financial crisis due to lockdown from March 2020, the business was closed for last 3 months and many peoples lost their job for Incident lockdown but the authority of private schools are very rude and continuously demanding school fees from the parent by sending SMS and calling over parents mobile number. Sir, it is necessary to mention here that schools are closed from March 2020 till date but they ask for school fees which cause mental torture for parents. Sir, therefore, it is, therefore, you are requesting to intervene into the matter, may please issue direction to the Education Department of Assam Government to wave off/relaxation of school fee during Lockdown or School will reopen for which I shall pray.”
