National Desk: Amid the ongoing border tensions with neighbours China and Nepal and the corona virus crisis, there comes some positive news for the people of India as the COVID-19 recovery rate in the country now stands at 54 percent. India’s recovery rate is now better than the World average which is 52.4 percent.
In India the deadly virus has affected 3,95,048 people till now out of which 12,948 people have lost their life to the deadly pathogen while 2,13,830 have been cured including 10,386 in the last 24 hours. Currently, there are 1,68,269 active cases undergoing treatment.
According to the Ministry of Health, the positive trend in the daily numbers indicates a steadily increasing gap between active and recovered cases.
Maharashtra is the worst COVID-19 hit state in the country with a total of 1,24,331 confirmed cases including 5,893 deaths while 6,2773 people have been cured. Maharahstra is followed by Tamil-Nadu with 54,449 confirmed cases out of which 30,271 people have recovered. The National capital has recorded 53,116 cases with 23,569 recoveries. Assam on the other hand has 4,904 confirmed cases with 9 deaths and 3,039 people discharged taking the recovery rate to 60 percent.
States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Delhi (2,035) followed by Gujarat (1,618), Tamil-Nadu (666) and West Bengal (529).
A total of 62,49,668 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in India as of June 17. The number of tests performed per million population in India is 4,659.
