News Desk: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday gave permission to conduct examinations by Universities and Institutions.
MHA gave its nod to conduct examinations through a letter to the Union Higher Education Secretary. The ministry also said that final term examinations are compulsory and would be conducted as per the guidelines of the Universities Grants Commission (UGC) and as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) approved by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
However, in the press statement, MHA did not clarify the mode of examination, whether it will be conducted online or offline.
This decision came amidst numerous concerns raised by students on their exams. Students across the country have been demanding cancellation or postponement of their exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UGC in a meeting on Monday decided to conduct final semester exams by the end of September. The UGC restated the higher education institutes to evaluate the final semester students through an examination conducted in either online or offline or blended mode.
