News Desk: The Indian Army has revised the quarantine policy for members of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force amid the increased deployment due to India-China tension at Ladakh. A revised protocol has been issued to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the armed forces.
The revised protocol includes the exclusion of a 14-day quarantine period. This exemption is valid only for special conditions like commuting from one duty station to another without any stay-in between. The exclusion from quarantine may be considered if the personnel are asymptomatic and have not come into contact with any confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patient in the 14 days preceding their arrival at their base.
The revised protocol has been issued by the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services. Officials said that the revised protocol was issued due to the evolving pattern of the pandemic. The guidelines cover all the three branches of the Armed Force, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. The new guidelines are issued exactly a week after the India-China clash in Galwan Valley.
Under the previous protocol, all army personnel who returned to military stations from home or other stations were instructed for a 14-day quarantine period if they do not fulfill certain conditions.
