News Desk: The Assam State NSUI unit on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Education Himanta Biswa Sarma stating that the decision to hold examinations during the ongoing pandemic and flood is inhuman and illogical decision.
Assam NSUI unit expressed its resentment on the decision of U.G.C as well as the Universities of Assam whereby initiative has been taken to hold examination during the period of the pandemic.
In addition to the pandemic, the flood situation has also created a pathetic scene in the State of Assam. In such a situation without looking into the plight of the students any proposal to hold the examination is a great blunder.
Online examination is a distant dream particularly in North-Eastern states due to poor network connectivity and high-cost data. The majority of the students belong to poor family backgrounds. They cannot afford smartphones and costly data for examination while pandemic has affected the economy of their bread earners. While conducting a nationwide campaign it has come to the knowledge of NSUI that the majority of the students including professors are not in favour of holding the online examination. On the contrary, they prefer promotion without an examination so that the health condition of the students can be protected.
