News Desk: According to recent data, tea exports have dipped marginally in the last budgetary to 240 million kg compared to 254.50 million kg the last year, a fall of about 5.6 percent.
According to the Tea Board data, the exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries have also declined marginally from 60.72m kg in 2018-19 to 59.40m kg in the last fiscal.
Iran continued to be the second-largest importer and the country’s import increased from 41.02m kg to 46.47m kg in the last fiscal. Intake by China also increased from 10.58m kg to 12.71m kg. However, exports to neighboring Pakistan saw a significant drop. The intake by Pakistan significantly dropped from 14.6m kg to 3.3m kg in the last fiscal.
According to data, apart from the above-mentioned countries, the US, the UK, and the UAE are the other three destinations where the exports had touched double digits in 2019-20. Meanwhile, the production of tea in March, the last month of fiscal 2019-20, witnessed a steep fall to 43.45m kg from 74.59m kg in the corresponding period of 2018-19.
