Honourable Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa imposes a 14-day lockdown in Karnataka amid a surge in COVID cases. Karnataka has been one of the worst hit states having a COVID tally of 1,322,054. The State has surpassed Tamil Nadu at 1,037,711, Andhra Pradesh at 997,462, Uttar Pradesh at 976,765 and Delhi at 956,348 cases.
Public transport including buses and metro will not ply during the 2-week lockdown. “When people aren’t allowed to step out, why will buses ply?,” Yediyurappa said while announcing the lockdown.
Earlier, the State capital Bengaluru was declared as the Indian district with the highest number of active COVID caseload.
