Guwahati Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden witnessed the birth of two tiger cubs recently.
The Royal Bengal Tigress named Kazi gave birth to two cubs taking the population at the zoo to nine.
As informed by an official, both the mother and the cubs are in good shape.
He further expressed that all the necessary precautions to protect them were being taken in light of the recent fluctuations in temperature in the region. To comfort them, heaters have been installed outside the cage and dry straw has been placed inside the cage. These new modifications are added to keep them warm.
As per the veterinarian prescribed, for their diet, around six to seven kilograms of meat is being provided to the mother whose nutrition is being prioritized.
Increased focus is being given to hygiene and cleanliness of their habitat so that the mother and the cubs do not come contract into any diseases.
Further, the Forest department asked the state Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to name the cubs.
