Clash over Cattle in Tripura: One BSF Jawan and Four others Injured

Tripura, 17, January: A brawl between a few BSF personnel and villagers witnessed yesterday in Tukkar Chowmuhani village, Matinagar in Sepahijala district, 50 km away from Agartala. The brawl started over alleged slaughtering of cows in an open area led to protests by the villagers. Five villagers including a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured.
Injured Sushil Kumar, one of th BSF’s 150 Battalion was first rushed to a local hospital, later referred to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital in Agartala.
The injured villagers identified as Sufiulla (30), Ershad Miah (60), Motiqul Islam (50) and Anwara Begum (60) were discharged from the local hospital after the primary treatment, said the police.
If they stopped us by talking, we would certainly have respected the law keepers. But they assaulted us, did lathi charge. We are humans too.” Said a villager.
No complaint was registered against them, ensuring the cooperation between the security personnel and the local community.
