Bihar IPS officer Amit Lodha was suspended following a case on charges of alleged corruption and entering into a commercial agreement with Netflix while on government duty. Lodha rose to prominence following the November 25 release of Neeraj Pandey’s Khakee: The Bihar Chapter on Netflix.
According to a statement obtained by reporters, Lodha has been accused of abusing his position as an IPS officer for financial gain by signing an agreement with the US-based streaming company for a deal with production house Friday Storytellers. It went on to say that during the investigation, allegations of corruption were discovered to be true.
Following this, the Special Vigilance Unit filed a case against Lodha under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 168 (public servant engaging in unlawful trade) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as the Prevention of Corruption Act. A DSP-level officer will conduct additional investigation.
