Hmangaihzuali, the daughter of a smallholder farmer in Mizoram, has been successful in securing her name among five top recipients of a scholarship for admission to the prestigious Asian University for Women (AUW) in Bangladesh.
She will pursue an undergraduate program in Politics, Philosophy & Economics, & Public Health at the all-women university, that endeavors to nurture skilled, effective, and innovative professionals.
Global agriculture firm Syngenta expressed that the $375,000 (Rs 2.8 cr.) scholarship will cover tuition, room and board, health coverage, textbooks, and supplies along with the possibility of internship opportunities from Syngenta.
A resident of Thing in Mizoram’s Aizawl district, Hmangaihzuali expressed joy after this achievement. He said that despite coming from a poor family of farmers, she is privileged to have been enrolled in this prestigious program in Bangladesh. She thanked Syngenta for fulfilling her dream of going to a good university.
Syngenta scholarships are provided to interested students from farming communities based on their academic excellence and demonstrated leadership.
