The Karkardooma Court rejected the bail to former student activist at JNU Umar Khalid on Thursday.
Umar Khalid was accused in a “larger conspiracy” case relating to the 2020 Northeast Delhi Riot. Khalid was arrested on September 14 in 2020 and sent to Tihar Jail.
Khalid faced charges under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for being the “mastermind” of the Delhi Riot 2020 on February in which 53 people died and 700 were injured.
During the arguments the accused told the court that the prosecution lacked evidence to prove its case against him.
