BJP is set to disclose its candidate for the prestigious Majuli seat on either 13th or 15th February. This was announced by the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma today.
Moreover, Akhil Gogoi, the Raijor Dal president, and Sibsagar MLA had announced that his party will support the Assam Jaitya Parishad (AJP) in the upcoming by-polls for the Majuli Assembly constituency.
By-elections in Majuli are set to be held on March 7. While the last date for filing of nominations is February 17.
On the other hand, counting of the votes will be held on March 10.
After Sarbananda Sonowal, the ex-Chief Minister of the state was inducted into the Modi cabinet last year, the Majuli seat was lying vacant.
Even though the by-elections were supposed to be held last year but since Sonowal had not resigned till the announcement of the by-elections in five other constituencies, it was pending.
