President’s awards to BSF personnel on Republic Day-2022

In recognition of the distinguished service rendered by Border Security Force personnel, the President of India awarded 54 Medals to the BSF personnel on the occasion of 73RD REPUBLIC DAY.
True to its tradition Border Security Force Guwahati Frontier once again kept its flag high, by achieving 02 President’s Police Medal (PPM) for Distinguished Service and 09 Police Medal (PM) for Meritorious Service on the occasion of 73rd Republic day. Out of 54 medals awarded to the BSF, a total of 11 medals were awarded to brave officers and Jawans of BSF Frontier Guwahati who renderer their service at the border.

For his long service carrier marked with a high sense of discipline, devotion towards duty, effective leadership, unquestioned integrity, Sh Sanjay Singh Gehlot, IG Frontier Guwahati was awarded President Police Medal for distinguished service. Sh Gehlot joined BSF in 1986, he has the rich experience to serve in both complex eastern and western theatres. During his command of the 138 battalion, the battalion eliminated 47 hard-core militants in Kashmir including recovery of huge quantity of Arms and Ammunition without fatal causality of own troops. Due to his outstanding performance and professionalism, he was selected for deputation to NSG where he served the elite Black Cat Commando Force (NSG) for five years. He was also awarded for Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2009 as well as Ati Utkarsht Seva Padak in 2020.

Hailing from the snow-bound area of Utrakhand, Sh Jitendra Kumar Rudola joined BSF IN 1987. While posted in counter-insurgency roll in North Cachar and Karbi Anglong district, exhibiting courage and valor, in a single operation, his unit was able to recover 11 AK -47 rifles. In his career spanning more than 36 years, he had held assignments on Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh border and took an active part in counter-terrorism operations in Punjab, J&K, and Assam. Officer was awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2011.
Sh Diwakar Kumar, Comdt, Sh Baljit Singh, AC, Sh Yashpal Singh Chauhan, Insp Mahendra Koosh, SI S Nanda Kumar, SI Hoshiyar Singh, ASI Bikram Singh, HC Avtar Singh, and CT (W/M) Ram Jinish Baitha were awarded the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Services.
On these achievements Sh Sanjay Singh Gehlot, IG BSF Guwahati congratulated all the awardees and said that BSF has shown utmost dedication towards the safeguarding of the international boundary of India with professional acumen and a lot of sacrifice of its Jawans. These medals are in recognition of the exceptional contribution made by BSF personnel in the service of the Nation.
