Amid burning buildings that ensued communal violence in Rajasthan’s Karauli, a photo of a police constable saving an infant is being widely praised and shared on social media.
In the photo shared by Senior Superintendent of Police of Shamli, IPS Sukriti Madhav Mishra, the police constable, Netresh Sharma can be seen running past burning buildings through narrow alleys while holding the infant securely in front of him.
On Saturday, Communal violence had broken out in Rajasthan’s Karauli when a motorcycle procession being taken out on the occasion of Nav Samvatsar, the Hindu New Year, through a Muslim-dominated area was allegedly pelted with stones, leading to arson.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot lashed out at the Centre for the violence and said that the Central Government should take responsibility and condemn the communal violence in the state.
