The president of india Ram Nath Kovind conferred Padma Awards on 74 distinguished personalities on Monday. The President conferred Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awards for the year 2022 at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
This year 128 Padma Awards are being presented where the first investiture ceremony was held on March 21 during which 54 personalities were honoured. The awards were announced on the occasion of Republic day every year.
The Padma awards are conferred in 3 categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. These awards were given in various disciplines such as art, social work, public affairs, , science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports and civil service among others.
This year there are 4 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 107 Padma Shri awardees.
