The job fair held on December 23 at the initiative of the Assam government created controversy state-wise. Assam Public Work today addressed a press conference alleging that the government had looted crores of rupees through this job fair. According to APW, the fair was to show that the money received from the central government was put in use.
APWD president Avijit Sharma said that minister Chandramohan Patwari thinks that his duty is done by simply suspending two officials at the recruitment fair. The state government had received an amount of Rs 1200 crore in the form of schemes like skill development, vocational training, etc., from the central government. Out of this, ASDM received Rs 487 crore. Assam Building and Others Construction Workers board received Rs 75 crore to train youths in 2018. But the government never provided the promised training or facilities as promised to the public.
The organization also alleged that a few groups have been running syndicates in the name of skill development. Again, during the days of MD of ‘ASDM’ Anand Prakash Tiwari, one such scam of Rs 487 also came to light. But to date, Minister Patwari’s department is yet to give the exact whereabouts of the money.
