West Bengal Elections 2021: Polling Going on for Seventh Phase

Polling for the seventh phase of the ongoing assembly elections in West Bengal began at 7 am in all polling stations across 34 assembly constituencies of the state. In the seventh phase, 36 assembly constituencies are going into polls but unfortunately voting in Jangipur and Samserganj has been postponed due to the death of two candidates from the respective constituencies. . On Sunday, Kajal Sinha a candidate from the ruling Trinamool Congress passed away due to Covid-19.

The seventh phase of voting is taking place at a time when there has been a huge rise in the country’s daily COVID cases. Last Thursday, the Election Commission of India had declared that no roadshows or rallies will be allowed for the assembly elections, also revoking permission already granted for such rallies.

The elections in Bengal started on 27th March and the following rounds took place on April 1, 6, 10, 17, and 22. The final round of voting will take place on April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
