People of Guwahati have initiated a happy and safe new year. We passed two days of the year without any form of accident. The first morning of the New Year went undisturbed as Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Transport Minister Chandramohan Patwari, District Transport Officer Gautam Das, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, and many other officials requested the people of the city against drunk driving on the last day of last year and the first day of the New Year.
On the first day of the New Year, we hear about many accidents on the streets. Many people lose their lives and become handicapped for drunk driving. But this year people have fully abode by the request of the government to make helmets mandatory while driving and avoid drunk driving on December 31.
