ACS official Rahman’s Guwahati residences raided: 31 Landed properties in his name in city

How many properties an ADC can earn in his job periods? To make Assam Corruption free, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strictly directed to take actions against any officers who are involved in any type of corruption.

The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell on Wednesday launched a raid at the two deluxe residences of the Assam Civil Service (ACS) official and former additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Dhubri, Saibar Rahman.

The Special Vigilance Cell first launched its operation at House No 5 at Meherban Path in Hatigaon and second in Ridhi Sidhi Apartment in the Beltola area of the Guwahati city.
Thirty-one of the 89 landed properties of Saibar Rahman are in Guwahati.

 

According to the high source from CM Special, Vigilance Cell said, “He is the Deputy Secretary of the Minority welfare department. He was also BDO of Maibong in the then North Cachar Hill district in 2002 and continued to stay there till 2007 when the Rs 1,000- Crore NC Hill scam took place.”
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell, SP Rosie Kalita said, “We are doing an inventory preparation at Saibar Rahman’s residence to submit a report of the seized assets recovered during the search operation,” adding more said that his acquisition of immovable properties, there are 89 numbers of landed properties registered in either his or one of his two wife’s names of which the market value will be more than 100 crores.”

Meanwhile, the Special Vigilance Cell also seized Diamond, gold, jewellery, and cash amounting to Rs 86,000 in Guwahati.

However, it is also mentioned that Rahman was booked under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 on Wednesday and was forwarded to six-day police remand.
