Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party on Wednesday released its poll manifesto for the upcoming state assembly poll.
The manifesto was released by Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya. He termed the foreigners’ issue as the main problem of the Assam.
Few highlights of AGP’s manifesto:
• The local political party promises implementation of the Assam Accord and its Clause 6 to protect the rights of the indigenous people.
“Full implementation of Assam Accord is our party’s first and main aim and duty. We are committed to the safeguard of political, economic, social, and cultural rights of indigenous people as per the Clause 6 of Assam Accord” the manifesto stated.

• Unemployment issue: Unemployment is a burning issue of Assam. The party will concentrate on providing employment to youths not only in government sectors but also in all other sectors.
• Financial development: Social and Cultural development is not possible without financial development.
• Development in the Agricultural sector: Without the development in Agricultural sector, development of Assam is not possible. The AGP government in its manifesto stated that the party will focus on development of the Agriculture sector. The party promised to enact a law to free agricultural land from illegal immigrants.
• Development of roads and markets.
• Special scheme for children and women.
Polling for the 126-seat Assam Assembly will be held in three phases from March 27. The counting will be taken up on May 2.
