Candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Monday filed their nominations for the first phase of Assam Assembly elections.
The election for the first phase of the Assam Assembly is scheduled to be held on March 27.
BJP candidate Ajanta Neog submitted her nomination paper from Golaghat constituency. The leader joined the BJP party after quitting the Congress party.

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora also submitted his nomination papers from Bokakhat today. He was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for filing his nomination. State Minister for Transport and Industry also accompanied the AGP leader.

BJP candidate Binod Hazarika and Teros Gowala also filed their nomination papers for Lahowal and Duliajan constituency respectively. Prasanta Phukan, who will contest from Dibrugarh also filed his nomination papers.
The last date for submission of nomination papers by candidates is March 9. The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed at March 12.
