Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on July 16 presented the budget for the session 2021-22.
However, the Assam Budget 2021-22 of the new BJP led government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has evoked contrasting reactions.
Reacting to the Assam Budget 2021-22 presented by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, the Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers’ Association (AREIDA) President, P.K.Sharma said that the budget does not provide anything specific to real estate.
He informed that in the previous budgets, schemes like Apunar Apun Ghar, Apun Ghar, one time Amnesty scheme for deviations etc were announced.
Moreover, Sharma also informed that there are provisions for greening and freeing Guwahati from floods. There is also provision of augmenting the water supply schemes at Kamakhya, Panbazar and Satpukhuri, development of Dighalipukhari, Saraighatpukhri, Yatri Nivas at Amingaon, ropeway at Kamakhya.
He also highlighted development and controlling encroachment in the hills of Guwahati. The strengthening of the Ease of Doing Business Act with automated and digital platform for business processes to reduce human interface, as well as proposed hiring of a dedicated team of young professionals to attract and provide handholding support to investors is particularly welcome.
Also, provisions for direct payment of forest royalty to treasury, as well as commitment to administrative reforms in government functioning including Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery Project (ACCSDP) to track and deliver various government services to the citizens are innovative and welcome reforms.
However, none of these were included in the budget for the 2021-22 session.
