Assam Budget Session: Government to introduce 14 bills!

The Budget Session of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly, 2021 begins from Monday and will continue till August 13.

The budget of this year will be a history for Assam, as for the first time woman finance minister, Ajanta Neog will represent the budget on July 16, 2021.

The state government will introduce 14 bills, including the Assam Cattle Preservation Bill 2021, throughout the Budget session.

The first day of the budget session began with a question hour session.

Sivsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on the very first day questioned the power minister Bimal Bora over the number of villages and households in Chenga constituency yet to be electrified and measures are taken to electrify the villages in char areas of Chenga constituency.

However, Minister Bimal Bora assured for installation of the 8000 transformers in all the legislative constituencies of Assam. The state has 1500 transformers in stock, whereas, there 2000 transformers will be repaired.

Assam Government will procure 4000 more transformers through the AIIB project, informed the state power minister during the session.

Meanwhile, the state government will offer 13 additional bills throughout the session that includes:

The Assam Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Bill (Amendment) Bill, 2021
The Assam Women’s University (Amendment) Bill, 2021
The Majuli University of Culture (Amendment) Bill, 2021
The Bodoland University (Amendment) Bill, 2021
The Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva Viswavidyalaya (Amendment) Bill, 2021
The Bengal, Agra, and Assam Civil Courts (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2021
