Assam: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today, July 29 inaugurated the 65th Central Kitchen of Akshaya Foundation at Jorhat. On the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of ISKCON founder Swami Srila Prabhupada the inauguration of the 65th central kitchen took place.
“The foundation has been providing food to school children for 22 years to overcome hunger challenge to education”, said CM Sarma.

CM Sarma further tweeted “The kitchen at Jorhat will cover 12,000 students of 157 schools in 1st phase and 30,000 students in next phase. We’ll open a kitchen at Majuli next for which State Govt will provide ₹14 cr. We’ll also set up kitchens at 9 other places in Assam through MoU with the Foundation.”
In the inauguration function along with Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sri Sri Chancila Prabhu Dasa, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi and others were also present.
