On Thursday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sports Minister Bimal Borah felicitated Olympic Bronze medal winner Boxer Lovlina Borgohain at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra in Guwahati.
Assam government had offered a government job, a post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to a celebrated boxer from the state Lovlina Borgohain, the daughter of Assam, who has won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games making the country proud in the international arena.
Assam CM Sarma also stated to start a sports project in the name of Lovlina at Golaghat District in Sarupathar.
“A stretch of road in Guwahati in Assam will soon be named as Lovlina,” Sarma said.
Sarma made the announcement that Rs 1 crore will be gifted to the medalist Borgohain.
“She will get a scholarship of Rs 1 lakh each month till Paris Olympics to aid her preparations”, Sarma added.
