Assam Govt. Signs MoU with Indian Institute of Foreign Trade

State Minister for Industry and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary on Friday evening chaired an Export Conclave at Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati.

The export conclave was organized by the Industries and Commerce Department in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Speaking at the event, Minister Patowary pointed out that Assam Government has given a great thrust to promoting exports of horticultural and agricultural products and processed food.
The climatic conditions of the State are a huge boon supporting the growth of a variety of fruits, vegetables, and spices. This contributes a lot to setting up of agro-processing industries in the State.
Assam has a surplus of fruits and vegetables and has been exporting to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait in the past few years. Even during the COVID-19 lockdown period, Assam exported consignments of vegetables to Middle East countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Assam Government and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT).
Industries and Commerce Principal Secretary KK Dwivedi was also present at the Export Conclave.

“Chaired an Export Conclave organized by Industries & Commerce Department in collaboration with @APEDADOC Assam Govt. has given great thrust for promoting exports of Horticulture & Agricultural products.
A MoU was signed between Assam Govt. & Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.” the minister informed.

In another event, minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal officially inaugurated the Centre for Perishable Cargo (CPC) at LGBI Airport, Guwahati.
During the inauguration ceremony, CM Sarbananda Sonowal ceremonially flagged off a cargo consignment of vegetables (600 kilograms) for export.

“CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal inaugurated the Centre for Perishable Cargo (CPC) in presence of Minister Shri @cmpatowary at LGBI Airport, Guwahati. On the occasion, the CM ceremonially flagged off a cargo consignment of vegetables (600 kg) vegetables for export.”
