Health Minister of Assam Keshab Mahanta addressed the last press conference of the year on Friday. The press conference urged the people of the state to be aware of the situation of the recent epidemic in Assam.
The Health Minister said that 9,000 beds are ready for the new Corona variant Omicron. A total of 1600 ICU beds are currently available in Assam. Among them, 1000 beds are for covid-19 patients.
Meanwhile, he highlighted the number of people affected by Corona and said that 620,573 people have been affected so far. The number of cured people is 612282.
The Health Minister also highlighted that a total of 3.75 crores doses of vaccination have been successfully carried out in the state so far. Also, eight new cancer hospitals will be opened during Bohag Bihu and a new hospital will be launched in Pandu-Dhirenpara. Services of Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) will be closed from the 1st January 2022.
