Considering the tense situation prevailing along the state borders, Assam Police saw a series of reshuffles and transfers in its top positions.

As per orders by the Government of Assam, Ramandeep Kaur, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, Assam has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Cachar; Gaurav Upadhyay, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Chirang, Assam has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi; Pranjit Borah, APS, DCP Traffic has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Chirang.

Meanwhile, Assam Police Cachar SP, Vaibhav Chandrakant Nimbalkar, who got critically injured during the exchange of fire at the Assam-Mizoram border, was airlifted yesterday from Silchar to Mumbai for advanced treatment. 6 jawans of Assam Police have died in these clashes along with one civilian.

It may be noted that the boundary dispute between Assam and Mizoram has been reported as early as nearly 150 years ago. Since then minor incidents have triggered tension around the people of both states. This dispute has been particularly violent resulting in the burning of houses in Mizoram and the deaths in Assam, apart from injuries to 60 officials.
