Assam Mizoram border tension: BTR’s Pramod Boro demands peace talks

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro has expressed grave concerns over the escalated tension at Lailapur along the Assam-Mizoram border. He demanded a speedy resolution of the internal disagreements and advocated sincere discussion between both states.

Addressing media persons, Boro said that the interstate land dispute and the ensuing violence was unfortunate and unwanted. Boro also stated, “Border dispute is not a new issue. Border land dispute along the states like Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram has been there since long” adding he said that the border land dispute must be solved through building up of good relations with states across the region. “Citizens want peace and harmony. Both the states must take strong steps to solve the land dispute issues with proper mechanism and strategies” the CEM added.
