The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday in a press release impetuously condemned the firing on Assam State police personnel in the Assam Mizoram border.
It has been reported in the media that the firing was done from the hilly Mizoram border onto the Lailapur area of Cachar District. As per reports, several Assam State police personnel were wounded. It has been reported in the media that gunshots were fired upon an Assam police security post. At least five state police personnel were injured and vehicles belonging to several state government officials were also damaged.
“It is a matter of disgrace that just hours after the Union Home Minister Sri Amit Shah left Assam that such an attack should happen on Assam police personnel and property of Assam Government. Just yesterday the Home Minister Amit Shah himself had chaired a meeting with the Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries of the North Eastern States to discuss Assam Mizoram border dispute issues. What transpired between them? What were the policies to mitigate the border disputes adopted? The Government should give assurance to the people residing in both the states that all disputes will be amicably settled.” a part of APCC’s press release stated.
“It has been observed by APCC that instead of proper solutions and steps, a Twitter war is going on between Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram CM Zoramthanga from this morning onwards.”, Congress further commented. “It has become a matter of great public concern as well as appalling humour that responsible persons like Chief Ministers both belonging to the same party are openly arguing with each other on Twitter handles and they have also tagged the Home Minister and Prime Minister. The BJP Government seems to be running the country through Twitter handles and social media.” the APCC press release stated.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee asserts that there is no clarity on the part of the BJP Government both in the states and at the Centre on the border issues at hand. “An atmosphere of uncertainty will further complicate matters. There is also a report that a mob has also man-handled a Mizo couple in the border area. The Government should ensure that the common people of both the states should not bear the brunt of their lackadaisical attitude. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee demands that the BJP Government should give a clear message on how the border dispute will be resolved.” the APCC press release further stated.
Honble @ZoramthangaCM ji , Kolasib ( Mizoram) SP is asking us to withdraw from our post until then their civilians won’t listen nor stop violence. How can we run government in such circumstances? Hope you will intervene at earliest @AmitShah @PMOIndia pic.twitter.com/72CWWiJGf3
