On the ongoing house Assembly, during the question hour, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is also the minister of the home department in a written reply said, “The percentage of women employed in Assam police in the year 2016 was 5.97% and the percentage of women employed in Assam police as on date is 7.64%.”
In reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Bharat Chandra Narah, CM Sarma also informed that in the proposed requirements announcement by the state government for reservation of women for the post of unarmed branch constables will be 30% whereas said reservation for the post of armed branch constables will continue to be 10%.
