Another incident of police firing took place on Monday evening, where Prime accused in ONGC kidnapping case, Bhupen Baruah, has been injured.
The incident occurred when the accused was being taken for a spot mazahar by the Sivasagar police when he tried to snatch a police revolver and flee from the spot.
The accused received bullet injuries on his leg and has been sent to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh for further treatment.
Baruah was arrested on Saturday by Sadiya in connection with the kidnapping of three ONGC employees.
SP of Sivasagar, Rakesh Roushan said, “The accused tried to snatch the revolver of Nazira SDPO and flee from the spot. Police fired in self-defense following which Bhupen was injured.”
SP also stated, “Baruah has confessed his crime and also admitted that he hid two more weapons in connection with the case.”
