According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam Cabinet approved Rs 500 crore for the construction of 2,000 new Anganwadi centres across the state on Wednesday.
Anganwadi centres will be built in rural areas to improve child care services, according to cabinet decisions shared on Sarma’s official Twitter handle.
Each centre will cost Rs 25 lakh, with a total cost of Rs 500 crore for all of them.
The Assam Cabinet approved Rs 332.59 crore for the construction of a trumpet interchange at Gauripur in North Guwahati to connect NH-17 with the under-construction six-lane road of the Brahmaputra Bridge.
The cabinet communique stated that administrative approval was granted to establish the College of Sericulture at Titabar in Jorhat at a cost of Rs 22.41 crore to boost the handloom sector.
According to the report, the state cabinet also approved the Holiday List for 2023, which included 38 gazetted holidays, 30 restricted holidays, and two half holidays.
Furthermore, the Assam Trees Outside Forest (Sustainable Management) Rules, 2022, were approved, allowing people to cut 71 species of trees outside five kilometres of a forest without seeking prior permission from the authorities concerned.
The cabinet also approved Rs 50 million for the Jongal Balahu Khetra at the Jongal Balahu Archaeological site in Raha, Assam.
