Cheques of ₹ 30 Lakh handed over to deceased firefighters’s families

Guwahati: Sushil Chandra Mishra, the CMD of Oil India Limited (OIL) on Monday handed over cheque of ₹ 30 Lakh each to the families of the two deceased OIL firefighters. Durlov Gogoi and Tikheswar Gohain, the two OIL firefighters were killed in June 9 Baghjan Gas well inferno.

Bodies of the two firefighters were recovered from a pond near the Baghjan gas well by NDRF personnel on June 10. It is worth mentioning that Durlov Gogoi was an accomplished State level footballer.
Sushil Chandra Mishra handed over the cheques which were issued under OIL’s Social Security Scheme. The cheques were given to the wives of the two firefighters at their residence in Duliajan and Namrup respectively.

Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Union MoS for food processing industries Rameswar Teli, Minister of State Tea Tribes Welfare Sanjay Kishsan were also present. Assam Chief Minister Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday visited Baghjan and paid homage to them.
