On the Occasion of 73rd foundation day of Assam Cricket Association (ACA), Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a cricket pavilion and a cricket ground to be developed by ACA at Krira Kshetra, Kamalabari, Majuli.
Romen Dutta, President of ACA delivered the welcome address. Expressing his gratitude to the dignitaries for gracing the ceremony, he added that the event commemorated the completion of 72 years of ACA, which was set up on November 30, 1948.
Addressing the gathering, Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his satisfaction at ACA’s ambitious endeavor to develop the game of cricket in the picturesque river island district of Majuli. He, at the same time, underscored the fact that the project was undertaken by ACA to develop Krira Kshetra, Kamalabari at Majuli a proper cricket ground along with a pavilion would give a significant boost to the sports infrastructure of the district. and hope that Majuli will produce Cricketer of National and International repute
Secretary of ACA, Devajit Saikia said during the occasion that Players of Majuli District will get a chance to represent Majuli District Cricket Association in the different format of ACA’s Inter-District Cricket Tournaments and the process of District Affiliation with Assam Cricket Association is going on
He also added that the infrastructure development works of Krira Kshetra, Kamalabari at Majuli will be completed within 6 – 8 months.
