CID PS Case No. 20/2020 u/s 120B/406/409/419/420/468/471 IPC added section 66C/66D of Information Technology Act. relates to the misappropriation of Govt. fund meant for the pre-matric scholarship for students belonging to minority communities.
The case was registered on the basis of a written FIR lodged on 28-08-2020 by Sh. Mahmood Hassan, Director, Assam Minorities Development Board and State Nodal Officer, Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities, Assam.
During the course of investigation, several facts were revealed which led to the amalgamation of CID PS Case No. 19/2018 and Case No. 23/2018 with the instant case as per order dated 01-12-2020 of the Hon’ble Court of CJM, Kamrup(M), Guwahati.
32 nos. [(4 Headmasters, 2 EDPs(Electronic Data Processor) 2 Assistant Teachers, 2 Presidents of SMCs(School Management Committee), 8 owners of CSPs(Customer Service Points) of Banks and 14 Middlemen)]of accused persons were arrested in connection with the case.
65 number of seizures were done during the investigation by CID. These seizures include (1) Laptops-14 Nos (2) Mobile Phones-13 Nos (3) Hard Disk-02 Nos (4) CPU-01 No (5) DVR-01 No (6) Finger Print Scanner-01 No. besides a large number of incriminating documents from a number of districts of the state.
A charge sheet has been submitted vide CID Police Station charge sheet No. 01/2021 dated 03-02-2021in connection with this case in the Hon’ble Court of CJM, Kamrup (M), Guwahati on 04-02-2021.
The charge sheet runs into 7386 (seven thousand three hundred eighty six) pages. In addition to this case diary of the case runs into 1880 (one thousand eight hundred eighty) pages. 220 (two hundred twenty) numbers of persons have been named as prosecution witnesses (PWs). The statement of 10 (ten) number of witnesses have also been recorded by Judicial Magistrate under the provision of section 164 Cr.P.C.
