All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) president Dipanka Kumar Nath on Friday inaugurated a ‘private employment exchange’ at Jorhat.
It has been set up by Jorhat district unit of the student body with support from Asom Sena, a sister organization at Solicitor Road to facilitate providing employment to local youths in private companies and firms.
AASU Jorhat district president, Bijoy Shankar Bordoloi said that the initiative was launched to help local qualified and skilled youths of indigenous communities getting employed in all categories of jobs in the private sector.
Bordoloi stated that the ‘employment exchange’ will be run in a professional manner by persons who have knowledge of the same and will be functioning like a placement-cum-counselling centre by charging a minimum registration fee of Rs 200 unlike hefty amount charged by private placement/consultancy centres.
AASU President Dipanka Kumar Nath said, “The idea of opening an employment exchange for providing jobs to local youths had come up in the Duliajan conference of the student body last month and the idea materializing within a short period was a positive step.”
“Hoping that the centre will be able to provide employment to local youth, such centres could be opened in other districts of Assam,” further he added.
