On Wednesday morning in a tragic incident, an oil tanker lost control on the Kolia Bhomora bridge in Tezpur and smashed through its railing, and nose-dived straight into the Brahmaputra river.
According to sources, there were two people in the truck, driver, and helper when the incident took place. The helper sustained major fractures and was admitted to a local hospital, however, the driver, Arjun Rai died on the spot. Both the driver and helper hailed from Bihar.
The truck was returning from Thelamara after unloading and was heading to Lumding when the tragic incident took place at about 4:30 in the morning.
As per sources, the Tanker bearing registration number AS-12-BC-4791 is owned by Kuljeet Singh.
