ADGP GP Singh Reviews Situation in Assam-Mizoram Border

ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh visited the Assam-Mizoram interstate border in Silchar on Wednesday.

ADGP GP Singh reviewed the law and order situation in the wake of a bomb blast in a Bengali medium school located at Khulicherra area close to the Assam-Mizoram interstate border on October 22.

The ADGP was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, DIG Southern Range, Dilip Kumar Dey, SP, Cachar, Bhanwar Lal Meena and other officials.

Singh said that the explosion at the school was possibly the handiwork of miscreants out to terrorise the local people.

The top cop instructed the SP, Cachar to file a petition in the court under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

During his visit to Khulicherra, Singh also discussed the matter with SP, Kolasib Pu Vanlafaka Ralte and other senior police officials of Kolasib district of Mizoram before reaching Lailapur of Assam from Mizoram’s Vairengte area.

While talking to the media, Singh said that the constitutional boundary of Assam will be respected by one and all and that all the statutory provisions are being utilised with regular interactions being held by the Government of India and the Government of Assam which will eventually pave the way for the withdrawal of forces (from Assam’s territory).
