The All Assam Adivasi Students’ (AASA) Union of Tinsukia district on Friday staged a protest and surrounded the Regional Head Office of Oil India Limited (OIL).
Staging a protest, the student union demanded Rs. 30,000 as second term compensation and also demanded another Rs. 50,000 compensations for the families affected by the Baghjan gas well blowout.
Several families lost their farmlands, cattle, house, and other belongings in the massive fire at Baghjan.
The Adivasi Students’ union also issued a memorandum demanding a quick response by OIL officials in payment of compensation.
They further stated that if compensation is not given by November 25, the Union from November 26 will stage another colossal protest and also warned that they will force OIL to close down for an indefinite period.
